I get regular and frequent reminders about what a great church we have at Norcross Presbyterian Church. How lucky we are to be in this place at this time! Take VBS for instance. Each night roughly 30 children from our church and from the community would gather and learn about |
the love of God by the means of crafts, songs, mission and snack, recreation, and story-telling. You know what though, I bet the kids in the church, and in the community, learn a lot more about the love of God by the means of the care of the people of this church. VBS is free. It doesn’t cost families a thing to be able to come around. VBS is fun. The kids get to play with friends, get to run around outside and have fun, get to run around inside and sing songs, get to have a good time. The kids get assigned a Shepherd or two who cares for the same group each night and takes them to each station. At each station, the kids run into the same people every night, so that Tanya and Allie were familiar faces outside, so that Duck Ae, Marc, and Maryann were known as folks who care for kids when we make crafts, so that Laura and Melissa were known as folks who always meet in the sanctuary and lovingly share songs, so that Diane was there with a story and a snack, so that Jessica and a parade of actors were always there to act out a story and make it come to life every night, so that Dusty and Sunny were always there with their smiling faces. Amanda was always a happy face to greet you at the door, and to see you off as you left. Sandy made wonderful dinners around which we could gather each night. One of the things that the families affected by our VBS will remember is how much care and love we put into it. I think we share the gospel the way that Paul wrote of it in I Thessalonians 2.8. “So deeply do we care for you that we are determined to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you have become very dear to us.” To see how much care and love each and every one of us put into the VBS experience, and I unfortunately don’t have enough space or time to list each of you by name, was to see the love and care of God flowing through the members of Norcross Presbyterian Church to others. For me, that was a religious experience. I wrote it before, and I’ll write it again, I get regular and frequent reminders about what a great church we have. How lucky we are to be in this place at this time! May we continue to, |
