THE NEWSLETTER OF NORCROSS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Matt's Musings

By Matt Fry

So, we're having another girl.  Obviously, 5% of the time, the ultrasound gender check is wrong, but that means that 95% of the time it is right.  Kayla called it, too.  We were both sure that Melissa was having a boy, because of the differences from this pregnancy to last pregnancy, but Kayla was sure, she was having a little sister.  Melissa and I, and Kayla too, are so excited that we don't know what to do with ourselves.  I will of course be outnumbered, but then Melissa said we could get a dog, so that should just about even it up. (?)

Now we've all seen how good I am at making sure that Kayla doesn't have me wrapped around her little finger.  Yeah right.  This means that I've got no chance two times.

A few people have asked if either of us were disappointed that this one isn't a boy.  This will probably mark the end of my Father's name line (I'm the only boy, and unless we bribe Melissa, these are the two).  I will tell you the same answer I have been telling everyone else.  NO WAY are we disappointed.  It is my hope that the legacy of Fry is not in the name, but I want it to be in how we love.  I think that one of the most important things we can do as Christians, and really as people, is to love with integrity.  The world is a hurting, broken place.  Yet, I believe with all my being that one day, love will completely and forever save this world.  The wonderful part of God's plan is that one of the manners in which God spreads love through the world is through people.  We get to participate in the redemption of the world by our contribution of love.  So, to bring up children (and we all do

this, whether we are literally parents or not) in the way of love, to teach and show them how to love with integrity is the most important thing that I think any of us will ever do.  I hope that when Melissa and I look back at our lives one day, we will be able to say that our legacy was raising kids, was showing to our friends and church family, was among the world, a life lived by loving with integrity.  That is a legacy much more powerful than a name.

May you be filled with the peace of God, so that you may always,

Be Well,

Matt
