I’ve done a lot of things that lasted exactly three years.  I went to college for three years.  I worked as a director of Youth Ministries at my dad’s church for three years.  After that, I went to seminary for, you guessed it, three years.  From there, I went to my first church where I served as Pastor for three years (almost to the day).

Granted, I’ve done some things longer.  I went to high school for five years (8th grade was high school for me, sub freshmen, or subbies…not a great title).  I’ve been a dad for five years.  I’ve been married for almost eleven.  But there was a time in which I noticed three.

Which brings me to the point (which I know, is rare for me to have).  This March / Ash Wednesday will mark my three year anniversary here at Norcross Presbyterian Church.  Noting my unintentional penchant for threes, I also note the following:

We don’t feel like going anywhere.  The Fry’s want to stay at Norcross because we still feel God’s call here.

I don’t get the sense that in three years we’ve done all that can be done together – or (to translate) three years isn’t near long enough to do all the wonderful things we can do together.

I’m glad that we aren’t going anywhere.  Setting down roots is nice.  Setting them down with NPC is icing on top of the cake.

I get the sense that something really exciting is just around the corner.  I don’t know what exactly God is doing, but I do feel God working in us, preparing us for something cool.  And I for one can’t wait to see what it is.

So, I’m calling on my experiences that are for more than three years.  I gotta tell you, it feels great.  And I’m sorry, but I guess you are stuck with us.  Let’s enjoy the journey, and continue to,

Be Well,

I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus.
– I Corinthians 1:4 (NRSV)
