NEEDED! HABITAT VOLUNTEERS

UPDATE August 27: September 20 is not going to work. We will review the situation and announce a new date later. We will not be participating on September 20th.

Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity has invited us to participate in a House 'Faith Build'; we have chosen the last date offered, Sep. 20 to participate. We currently have about 5 volunteers for the work day (could use 10), and probably we will be doing finishing touches or landscaping. We may be providing lunch as well on 9/20/08. The other dates offered by Habitat, 7/26, or 9/6 (both Saturdays) could use one or two extra volunteers as well, if any of us want to attend. The home address is 791 Winnbrook Dr NE in Dacula, Ga 30019. Each volunteer should plan to work either an 8 hour day, or 4 hours with a replacement person to work the remaining ½ day.

Please note that NO ONE UNDER 16 years of age is allowed to work on an active construction site. 14 - 15 year olds can help provide lunch or can help with landscaping but only if landscaping is the ONLY activity that day. Now 16 and 17 year olds can be on site from the first day of construction, but they are restricted from doing any roofing or being on the roof, cannot operate any power tools and cannot be on ladders or decks without guard rails over 4 foot high. (This policy will be strictly enforced as Habitat’s insurance coverage depends on following these guidelines.)

Another Habitat opportunity begins in September at a townhouse in Tucker, so we'll keep you posted with further dates on that.
