Text Box: I always associated school starting back with fall. Maybe we started a little later back then. Maybe global warming wasn’t as prevalent. Maybe it was just part of the cyclical system that the Farmer’s Almanac says has always been the history of the weather. Maybe my memory is just bound and determined to remember it that way, right or wrong. But school starting back always felt like fall, and always brought excitement.
There was a newness combined with familiarity that came with fall and school. New classes, new teachers, same students. New things to learn, some new rooms, some familiar rooms, same lunch room. New schedule, same friends. And fall lent itself to that as well. New Football season, same Falcons loosing trend (though maybe this year will be different.) Heck, this year, new Braves team, same place in the standings. Who would’ve guessed?

Text Box: THE NEWSLETTER OF NORCROSS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Text Box: But fall always brings new colors, combined with the same exciting routine of Halloween, followed by Thanksgiving, followed by Christmas, followed by the New Year. And, while each holiday season was different from last year, I always looked forward to the same Peanuts television special to commemorate the season.
The Great Pumpkin was followed by the Thanksgiving around the table in which Snoopy made toast, was followed by Charlie Brown’s pathetic and at the same time perfect Christmas tree. Some things are great because they are new, and some things are great because they are familiar.
Well, that time is now, especially at Norcross Presbyterian Church. Some things are familiar. In a little more than a month, our familiar and beloved Wednesday night Suppers and programs start anew. (In case you’ve been wondering, yes, that has been me at the church every Wednesday since May at 6.00 holding an empty plate, wondering where the food was.) Planning has been long in place for our Bar-B-Que, and for our Pumpkin patch, and for our Fall retreat to Montreat. All of those have been wonderful traditions at Norcross Presbyterian Church for years, and it is fun to look forward to them again.
And there are new things coming too.
