Pumpkin Patch

Text Box: Life and Nurture
By Norma Badeaux

enabling them to experience life is far too high.  I’d rather Kayla and Murphy get their hearts broken in love

rather than not be able to love.  I’d rather they loose someone very close to them than not get to close to

people.  I’d rather they live the full life, with all of its pain, so that they can enjoy life’s beauty.  Because in

the end, even with all the pain, maybe because of all the pain, life is beautiful.

I hope you all know how much I appreciate being able to take the majority of my vacation and be with

my family during the birth and first couple of weeks of our wonderful daughter.  I am thankful to you (and the

session for approving the use of my vacation in this manner) for your letting me use most of my vacation all

at once, so that I could share in the journey with our family.  I was glad to be able to take care of my 3 ladies,

help around the house, and share in the joy of being a parent.  We were both astounded at your care and

generosity towards us, with the cards, many gifts, calls, and meals.  We feel lucky to be in such a wonderful

place.

As I am always,

Yours in Christ,

Matt

Many “Thanks” for all who donated their time to the pumpkin patch.

Youth, keep in mind that you will receive double volunteer credit hours for your help on November 3rd and November 7th during tear down.

Text Box: Community Thanksgiving
Service

As always, we will participate in a community Thanksgiving service on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, Sunday 21 November.  As not per always, we will be the hosts this year.  The service will begin at 7.30 p.m.  There will once again be a community choir, which will be comprised of all the participating church choirs.  They will sing one of my favorite anthems.  The choirs will meet for rehearsal at 6.15.

This is regularly a wonderful event, where we cross denominational lines, and get to worship together with folks we know (and folks we don’t know) in the community.  In some senses, when we do ecumenical things, we get a foretaste of what heaven will be like, and with whom it will be populated.  After the service, we are to stick around for desert (you will be told what to bring later).  Again, another foretaste of what heaven will be like.

As the host church this year, it is my sincere hope that we have a good turnout, and that we make a good showing of our church home to our brothers and sisters in the community.  I hope to see you here on Sunday, 21 November.

Acolytes

We are looking for a few interested folks who are between the ages of 10 and 18 (roughly) who would like to be an Acolyte.  An Acolyte carries a candle lighter into the sanctuary at the beginning of the service, lights a couple of candles, and then proceeds to join the congregation for worship.  At the end of the service, an Acolyte comes and re-lights the lighter, snuffs the candles, and recesses with the pastor after the benediction.  If you are interested in helping us “Fire it up”, then let Matt know, and we’ll do an after church, 15 minute Acolyte training, and you’ll be ready to go.
